Sustainability is a key anchor of our organisation, shaping our operations and driving our business growth.  Our sustainability strategy encompasses three pillars:

People

  • Employee Well-being: 

    We provide fair wages, provide opportunities for skill development and maintain a safe and inclusive workplace. Our internship program provides young professionals the opportunity to refine their skills and gain hands-on experience in event catering.
     

  • Community engagement: 

    We support local communities through our employee volunteering and skills development program. As part of this program, we identify community-based organizations with a need for upskilling in areas of food production, costing, basic accounting and marketing. Our teams volunteer their time and skill working closely with the organizations to impart transferable skills that can be used for commercial gain.

    As part of our community engagement, we also work closely with local farmers on product sourcing and quality control. 
     

  • Diversity and Inclusion: 

    We promote diversity in hiring practices and create an inclusive work environment.

  • Reduced Food Waste: 

    We continuously focus on investing in processes and technology to support minimization of food loss and waste. We accurately estimate quantities needed for events to help in preparing the right amount of food. We maintain a real-time inventory system to track and use ingredients efficiently.  We also partner with charitable institutions to donate short-dated stock that is safe to consume and meets all food safety standards.
     

  • Sustainable Sourcing: 

    We procure ingredients and products from ethical and sustainable sources.
     

  • Healthy menu options: 

    We offer a variety of nutritious and sustainable menu items that cater to different dietary preference.

Planet

  • Waste Reduction: 

    Reduce, reuse and recycle is one of our mantras. We have significantly reduced single-use plastics in our operations and continue to work with our suppliers on more sustainable packaging.
     

  • Environmental footprint: 

    NBC Catering strives to be more socially and environmentally responsible by helping people to eat better for their health and the planet. We strive to be more environmentally responsible through our focus on re-usable solutions and introduction of plant based meals in our offerings.

  • Energy efficiency: 

    We have implemented energy-saving measures in our operations, including use of energy efficient appliances and lighting.

Continuous Improvement

We regularly review and update our sustainability goals and initiatives based on changing circumstances and feedback.
